GRANTS FOR EV CHARGING POINTS

OLEV EV CHARGER SCHEMES

EV Vehicles are becoming more and more common, a couple of years ago, hardly seen, now they are popping up everywhere with 8000 EV vehicles vehicles per month adding to the numbers.
The infrastructure is struggling to keep up with the demand for charging points although many schemes are being rolled out across the country.
Supermarkets, Pubs, Garages are been equipped to cope with EV vehicles but  many more will be needed.

In order to support the wider use of Electric and Hybrid vehicles, the UK Government has set up a grant scheme for both work place and home installations.

Run through the Office for Low Emissions, OLEV, the Work Place Charging Scheme and the Home Charging Scheme has been put in place and grants can be applied for, either through the installer for Home Charging Points or through a Token Scheme for Work Place installations.

Although quite straight forward, the eligibility may be a bit confusing - to clarify, please read through the criteria below. Should you need help, please contact us using this form.

NEW from 1st July 2019.

All government funded home chargepoints for electric vehicles must use innovative ‘smart’ technology from July 2019, the government announced today (14 December 2018), fulfilling the commitment in the Road to Zero Strategy published earlier this year.

This means chargepoints must be able to be remotely accessed, and capable of receiving, interpreting and reacting to a signal. Smart charging can also reduce high peaks of electricity demands, minimising the cost of electric vehicles to the electricity system – and keeping costs down for consumers by encouraging off-peak charging.

For the WCS Grant and for non-‘smart’ chargers OLEV require an ASL meter with GPS Sim for data transmission (a back-office extra upgrade). All the Workplace Scheme Charging Points offered on our website are delivered with the ASL Meter to comply with the OLEV Grant regulation.
